All He Wants For Christmas is You Christmas Day, 2024.

Which Jesus Do you Love?

Christmas is an amazing day. It’s also a day when we forget who Jesus is! Huh? I guess what I mean is that some people forget who Jesus is.

Show video clip: Skit Guys - Baby Jesus is the same as Cross Jesus.

Here’s the question: Which Jesus do you love?

Baby Jesus

Isaiah 9:6:For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The cute pictures of Jesus in the manger are actually an image recognised throughout most of the world.

This Jesus doesn't offend anyone, is non-threatening, is an image of Jesus that makes people think that Christmas is for kids.

Miracle Jesus

Matthew 9:35:  Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and illness.

Perhaps you like the Jesus who does miracles.  Perhaps he is the Jesus who intervenes in your life.  He’s the one the heals you, delivers you, protects you.

WWJD Jesus

Matthew 7:28:  When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching…

Perhaps this is your favourite picture of Jesus - the good moral teacher.  The one to whom we compare all other religious and moral teachers.

Crucified Jesus

Mark 15:24: And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

Is this our favourite Jesus?  The one who died for our sins.  He is the one who went to a cross for us to give us new life, to take the punishment for our sins, to create a pathway back to God and enjoy God’s forgiveness.

Resurrected Jesus

Matthew 28:6: He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Maybe your image of Jesus is the one who give you victory, and that victory is assured because he has victory over sin and death.

Maybe we use Him as a ticket to get what we want - “name it and claim it.”

Returning Jesus

Revelation 22:20: He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Maybe our hope is in the returning Jesus.  We either relive He is coming back for a victorious church or we hope to be recused from the turmoil that we find ourselves in.  Maybe our favourite image of Jesus is the one for the future.

Here’s my real question this Christmas morning: has your image of Jesus grown in the last year?

Christmas Wrapping It Up:

This Christmas, may I encourage you all, young and old, to make a commitment to grow in Christ and to allow Jesus to grow in you too.  Merry Christmas!

Revelation Part 10: Chapters 14-16: Voices of Victory

We carry on with our series in Revelation. I hope you have found this helpful, insightful and not too full on. To get a bigger picture or reminder, remember you can visit my blog, or watch messages back online on our YouTube channel, or listen to our podcast.  I appreciate that some aspects of this have washed over us. Other parts have gained traction. Wherever we stand on this we need the Holy Sprit to illuminate the Word of God to us. Let’s delve into chapters 14-16. Now, remember, Satan is roaming the earth, the beast of the sea and the beast of the earth have been released. The mark of the beast is in operation. But during all of this there are several voices of victory! Listen; every attack of the enemy brings God’s people closer to victory! As the world moves into the last half of the tribulation, heaven is not silent. The Voice of the 144,000 (14:1–5): Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his n...

Revelation Part 6: Chapters 6-7: Seals and the Sealed.

Recap: Just a quick recap to refresh our memories. The prophecies in Daniel’s 70 weeks can be broken down like so: Week 1: Rebuilding of temple Weeks 2-6: The four kingdoms rise and fall (Babylon, Media, Persia and Greece). The final clause of this prophecy ends with Easter Week! Week 7: the Tribulation, seven year period yet to happen.  Note, in week 7 there is a break halfway through called the ‘abomination that causes desolation’ (Daniel 9:27). Jesus spoke of this too, saying people should flee Jerusalem when this happens (Matthew 24:15). This halfway point is important to remember. The Rapture has happened just prior to the opening of the first seal on the scroll in Rev 5:1-4. The day after the rapture the first seal is opened. The tribulation on earth is covered between chapters 6—19. This is where some of the things people fear are mentioned, as we shall see as we progress. But remember, you are viewing this from heaven if you have surrendered yo life to Jesus.  Daniel 9...

Revelation Part 9: Chapters 12-13: The Unholy Trinity

Revelation 12—13 introduces us to the three key characters in the drama of the last half of the tribulation: Satan the dragon, the false Christ and the false prophet. These three are, in a sense, an evil trinity, opposing the true God and His people on earth. While these events will be of special significance to God’s people at that time, the message of these two chapters can encourage suffering Christians during any age. Chapter 12: A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 ...
